I made tissue paper explosions for my pigtails, and waited for the sun to set.









it did, leaving only the bridges and buildings to light up the sky.









until...









... the fireworks dwarfed our skyscrapers.



















releasing their fronds









and spores to the night.









(I guess I wasn't festive enough before)





























they burst above our heads









almost close enough to touch









and in rows receding up the east river, where we could see only the glow of their smoky halos.
